Today feels like a baseball day. It's a hot, sunny but breezy Sunday afternoon, and it just seems that the best way to benefit from the combination of these 5 elements would be to attend a game. Unfortunately, that's not an option today. Even if the Charleston Riverdogs are playing this afternoon, this wouldn't really fill the void. Because when I say baseball, I mean Baseball. With a capital B. The real deal. You see, when you have grown up attending MLB games every summer, anything below major league doesn't really fit the bill. A brand new ball park along the river, 40,000+ seats, Skyline Chili, Graeter's ice cream, LaRosa's pizza (all Cincinnati specialties), and not to mention baseball's first professional franchise all make for one spoiled little Reds fan. Of course, I didn't realize how good I had it until I gave the minor league Riverdogs a chance. And that was a little disappointing. Yes, I know there has been no real sight of the World Series for my babies since 1990, but I am no fair-weathered fan.
The Reds are playing today (up 7 to 2 at the middle of the 8th against the Cardinals!), but considering I'm nowhere near the Midwest, it's not being televised here in Chaz. As usual, I'm settling for the Braves. Really, I just listen. It's relaxing, really good background noise. Music to the ears, if you ask me. Fast ball thrown into pitchers soft leather mitt, another attempt and a crack of the bat, and my favorite, the crowds reaction. I highly recommend you turn on a game the next time you want to make the most of your Sun/any day.
